Mr. Thomas Baum Payne
Mr. Thomas Baum Payne, 81, of 2636 Campostella Road, Chesapeake, VA, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Veterans Medical Center in Hampton, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 4, 2008 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Mike Huppmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Yeatesville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour, Friday, April 4, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC.
Mr. Payne was born April 13, 1926 in Dare County, NC. He was the son of the late Fearing Payne and Julie Anna Baum Payne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was self-employed as a dealer for Ryder Truck Rentals.
Survivors include four sons, Tommy Payne of Pamlico Beach, NC, Phil Payne and Robert Payne, both of Pinetown, NC, and Danny Lilley of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Elsie Graham of Norfolk, VA; one brother, ZF Payne of Manteo, NC; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and special friend, Helen Lilley.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maida Keech Payne; one daughter, Judy Payne; one grandson, Ellis Payne; and one brother, Nathan Payne.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to: The Hospice Unit of the VA of Hampton, 100 Emancipation Drve, Building 114, Hampton, VA 23667.
