Kathy Ann Schumacher Zimmer
Mrs. Kathy Ann Schumacher Zimmer, age 60, a resident of 2673 Frederick Road, Chocowinity, NC died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 8, 2010 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with Father M. Arturo Cabra officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC.
Mrs. Zimmer was born in Peoria County, IL on January 25, 1950 to Robert and Ruth McGarry Schumacher. Kathy graduated in 1970 from Black Hawk College in Moline, IL with as Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, the last five for the NC Department of Corrections in Craven County. Kathy married James Zimmer in 1980 who survives. She was a member of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by sons, Jason Zimmer of Chocowinity, NC and Christopher Schumacher of Chicago, IL, daughters Victoria Zimmer of Washington, NC and Veronica Zimmer of Chocowinity, NC, step daughters Catherine Szczygiel, Ann Purkes, and Mary Dorsett all of Ottawa, IL, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
